Animate The Shark

I started by finding lots of videos of sharks swimming online, observe its motion curve, and found that it is similar to the pendulum animation. So I animate the shark swimming in place, but it is not very natural, Then I continued to observe it,it looks much better after add head rotation. Then I designed the traveling route of the shark, which is the most satisfying part of the project for me and it makes the shark swimming look more flexibly. Finally, adjusting the direction and range of the shark’s body swings the animation is almost finished. I’m having some problems when importing animation files into Unreal Engine,the texture was miss! so I try found the solution on the Internet.then i export one fbx format file which save the model and texture, and export another file in alembic format which save the animation data, Then import them into Unreal Engine separately and the problem was solved.

week 8 : walking cycles

After the feedback of the assignments, I found some problems of my walking cycles.

  1. No rotation with y-x axle
  2. Do rotation with x-z axle
  3. Do more squash and stretch and keep it with the same amount every step.
  4. Avoid popping with the knees
  5. Feet do not slide

Week 4: Tailed

This week we learnd how to animated a tailed ball. Understanding the fallow through aand over lapping in animation principals. And this is my assignment of this week.

And adjusted last week’s pendulum assignment. The main problem with it is that the end of the pendulum has to stay in place at the very beginning. If the pendulum has a lot of mass it can be moved initially.

So I adjustred it.

Week 3: Pendulum

This week we animated a pendulum. And this is my assignment.

This week I also updated the last bouncing ball animation. The main problem with the last assignment was that the ball was bouncing on an incorrect track;,the track should have been more curved.

Then I adjusted it.

Week 2: everything is bouncing ball

The first week’s assignments were bouncing ball. In the second week my teacher critiqued the assignment, and I discovered and corrected some of the problems in it.

And I learned that all complex animations can be broken down into bouncing balls.

Week 1:12 principles

The 12 Principles are the foundation of animation, and during my undergraduate studies I also studied the 12 Principles of Animation. However, one of the difficulties I had was that the 12 Guidelines I studied before were translated into Chinese, so I memorized them in English and reviewed them.

Use them as a check list when animating!
